Hi! My name is Carl Woodard and my daughter's name is Lesly. She turned 19 on Feb 2, 2001. Obviously, the photo to the left is Lesly. Click here for a photo of me. (more photos of Lesly...) Lesly, I love you with all my heart!!! You are always in my thoughts. I could not be more proud of you!
We've lived in the Sacramento area since July of 1991. Before that, we were living in various parts of Southern California as well as 3 years in Hayward, Ca.
Lesly has been spoiled all her life by living in the wonderful climate of California while I was raised all over the North/South Dakota and Montana area! I grew up primarily in the Black Hills of South Dakota. That's the white colored region on the TV weather map. I just didn't know any better!? Even after 3 years of college in Allentown, PA, I was still ignorant of the California weather.
Sacramento is nicely positioned close enough to (yet, far enough from) snow. In fact, from Sacramento, you can find just about any type of climate or geography you want.
I had no idea weather could be so nice as it is in the places I've lived in California. Whenever I heard things about how nice the weather was, it just went in one ear and out the other! One year, it snowed at least once every month in the Sierra's near Lake Tahoe. Sacramento is only about 90 miles West of Lake Tahoe and about 90 miles East of San Francisco. There is an abundance of rivers and lakes here, too! Since I like to canoe, I can pretty much choose which river (or lake) I'd like to go to.
Hiking and backpacking places are also plentiful. I try to get my fill of that as well, but, I'd still like to do more of it.
I've been learning ballroom dances. That is, ballroom, swing and latin dances. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. The Ballroom of Sacramento is the best place for it. There are many different dance floors within the facility, the main floor being the largest. Check out The Ballroom of Sacramento website.
Now, I'm busy learning Perl. It's a script language for writing web pages and making them interactive. I'm almost through the tutorials. As soon as I finish them, I'll convert my message page over to something where anyone can post a message. Again, it will be for the purposes of learning and experimenting so I can implement it into my Engineering business.
